In this criminal proceeding, the district court declared a mistrial after the jury reported that it was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Larry Williams, the defendant, filed a plea in bar alleging that further prosecution would subject him to double jeopardy in violation of his constitutional rights. The district court overruled the plea in bar, and Williams appealed. The Nebraska Court of Appeals dismissed the appeal for lack of jurisdiction. We granted...
