Shamakh Alshaif (Defendant) pleaded guilty to one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury (AWDWISI) on 6 February 2007. Defendant received a suspended sentence of twenty-five to thirty-nine months and was placed on thirty-six months of supervised probation. Defendant filed a motion for appropriate relief (MAR) on 5 October 2010, arguing that his guilty plea was not intelligently and voluntarily
