These appeals emanate from four cases, two of which were consolidated for trial and all four of which have been designated exceptional and assigned the secondary docket number 09 CVS 9191 for case management purposes. All of the cases arise from a scheme to develop land in the mountain community of Spruce Pine, which went badly awry.
