On 13 August 2007 Ramel T. Troy ("defendant") was tried for the armed robbery and first degree murder of nineteen-year-old Jonathan Chase Powell ("Powell"). On 5 September 2007 he was convicted by a jury of both charges.1 Defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for the murder conviction and 117 to 150 months imprisonment for the robbery with a dangerous weapon conviction.2...
