¶ 1. On July 27, 2010, Jeremy Cooley was convicted of felonious child abuse. The Copiah County Circuit Court sentenced Cooley to thirty years' imprisonment to be served in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Cooley filed a motion for a judgment notwithstanding the verdict or, in the alternative, a new trial, which the circuit court denied.
