¶ 1. A jury sitting before the Bolivar County Circuit Court found Robert Porter guilty of murder and simple assault. The circuit court found that Porter qualified for enhanced sentencing as a habitual offender pursuant to Mississippi Code Annotated section 99-19-81 (Rev.2007). Accordingly, incident to Porter's murder conviction, the circuit court sentenced Porter to life in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections ...
