¶ 1. On October 31, 2006, a jury found Rena James Lawrence guilty of aggravated assault for shooting her husband, Joe Willie Lawrence. She was sentenced to ten years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
