Eddie A. Salazar ("Defendant") was found guilty after a jury trial of second-degree murder for killing his infant son ("Child"). After denying Defendant's "Motion for Judgment of Acquittal or in the Alternative for a New Trial" and subsequent "Supplemental Motion for Judgment of Acquittal or in the Alternative for a New Trial" (collectively, "the new trial motion"), the trial court sentenced Defendant to life in prison.
