Jason Matakis, who was convicted of criminal sexual conduct for sexually abusing his daughter for several years beginning when she was nine, filed a petition seeking to withdraw his guilty plea. He alleged that the plea was not knowing, voluntary, or intelligent. The petition included no facts, ostensibly because Matakis's counsel was unable to meet with him before filing the petition, but it promised to provide them in a forthcoming...
