William A. Eldredge is a firefighter employed by the City of Saint Paul. He is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces; therefore, the Veterans Preference Act (VPA) provides that Eldredge may not be removed from his job as a firefighter except for incompetency or misconduct shown after a hearing.
