Defendant, the Department of Human Services, appeals the trial court's order granting plaintiffs' motion for class certification. For the reasons set forth in this opinion, we reverse.

I. NATURE OF THE CASE

In this employment discrimination case, plaintiffs sought and received class certification for their claims that Michigan's Department of Human Services (DHS) discriminatorily denies male, but not female, racial and ethnic minorities...
