In the present case, Shelton Burris,1 was convicted of the first degree murder of Hubert Dickerson, Jr., and a related charge, after a jury trial in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Burris, according to the State's theory of the case, was a "hit man" for the Black Guerilla Family gang ("BGF") and was ordered by his gang boss, "Bam,"2 to kill Hubert Dickerson, Jr., because Mr. Dickerson owed...
