As told by the Commonwealth's witnesses, three year old Smokey (a 110-pound, gray blue-nose pit bull) is a gentle giant. Smokey was stabbed repeatedly by the defendant, William Whitson, outside the defendant's Fall River barbershop. Smokey survived. After a jury trial in the Superior Court, the defendant was convicted of animal cruelty...
