A pawnbroker, after a single-photograph identification procedure, identified the defendant as the man who had some days earlier pawned certain items of stolen jewelry. The pawnbroker's identification was an important part of the evidence at the defendant's jury trial, which resulted in his conviction of larceny over $250.
