The defendants, Michael Cowels and Michael Mims, were convicted by a Superior Court jury in December, 1994, of murder in the first degree in the stabbing death of Belinda Miscioscia. Among the evidence presented against them at trial were two "bloody" towels. The Commonwealth offered testimony
