While serving a period of probation for unrelated convictions, the defendant allegedly sold "crack" cocaine to a confidential police informant. Prior to his probation revocation hearing, he moved for disclosure of the informant's identity. A District Court judge denied the motion on the ground that such disclosure is not required in the context of a probation revocation proceeding.
