On October 10, 2005, Sylvia Mazur discovered the body of her eighty-three year old mother, Rose Ann Martowski (victim), on the sofa of her mother's home in Ware. The victim's skull had been fractured so severely that the entire right side of her skull had collapsed, leaving her brain exposed and her face bloodied.
