After working for more than thirty years as a special education teacher at Bourne High School, the plaintiff sought, pursuant to G. L. c. 32, § 3(4), to purchase additional retirement credit for additional service, from December, 1972, to August, 1974, as a teacher in a "Daytime Development Center" (DDC) providing education for children with special needs in Fairfax County, Virginia.
