Early one April morning, Terry D. Powell ("Powell") entered a hotel in Mansfield, Louisiana, to rob it, and while there, he fatally shot the elderly night clerk three times. He then fled the hotel with the cash from the register. Over an hour later, he returned to the hotel and, this time, encountered a hotel guest standing outside...
