The defendant, Michael Dewayne Kelly, was charged with armed robbery. Following a jury trial, he was convicted of attempted armed robbery. He was subsequently adjudicated a fourth felony offender and sentenced to 60 years at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
