The defendant, John Wesley Billiot, entered a no-contest plea to the offense of aggravated battery, a violation of La.R.S. 14:34, and, thereafter, the trial court sentenced him to serve ten years at hard labor with the sentence to run consecutive to other sentences he received for felony convictions to which he entered no-contest pleas on the same day.
