Defendant, Darnell Turner, was convicted of the second degree murder of Donald Bates in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. After the denial of his motion for new trial, the trial court sentenced Defendant to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
