The defendant, Trent Lyons, was convicted of second degree murder of Wilbert Decou in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. After the denial of his motion for new trial, defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Defendant's timely appeal followed.
