On April 3, 2012, the District Attorney for St. Charles Parish filed a bill of information charging defendant, Derrick Pierre, with one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine in violation of La. R.S. 40:967(A)(1), and one count of possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance in violation of La. R.S. 14:95(E). After a trial by jury, defendant was found guilty as charged and sentenced to 25 years...
