A few days after his sentencing for a felony, Shelby Fields was visited by probation officers at the house he had identified to them as his residence. While inspecting the house, one of the probation officers observed the butt or handle of a firearm between the mattresses of a bed. A less-than-unanimous jury convicted him of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, a violation of La. R.S. 14:95.1. He was adjudicated a second felony...
