Plaintiff, whose daughter committed suicide while detained in an isolation cell of a local jail, sought punitive damages against the jailers pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983. To recover damages under Section 1983, plaintiff was required to establish the defendants acted with "deliberate indifference" to the detainee's serious medical needs.
