The defendant, Gerard J, Bourgeois, was charged by amended grand jury indictment with one count of filing false public records (count I), a violation of La. R.S. 14:133; and one count of forgery (count II), a violation of La. R.S. 14:72; and pled not guilty on both counts. Following a jury trial, he was found guilty as charged on both counts. On each count, the defendant was sentenced to five years at hard labor, suspended, and five years probation...
