The defendant, Eric D. Walter, pled guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance, marijuana. Pursuant to the terms of his plea agreement, he was sentenced to serve 15 years at hard labor. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $5,000 plus court costs, through the inmate banking system, or to serve 60 days in lieu of payment of the fine.
