The defendant, Stephen Walder, was originally sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence, pursuant to an October 21, 1985 aggravated rape conviction for an offense committed when he was seventeen years old. The defendant's conviction and sentence were affirmed on appeal. State v. Walder, 504 So.2d 991 (La.App. 1st Cir.), writ denied,
