Following a bench trial, Lorenzo Jefferson was convicted of second degree murder and attempted second degree murder (La. R.S. 14:30.1, 14:27). At the sentencing hearing, Jefferson was given the mandatory life sentence at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence for his second degree murder conviction. In addition, the defendant was sentenced to 46 years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension...
