The defendant, Dadrien Updite, was convicted of a misdemeanor, domestic abuse battery, a violation of La. R.S. 14:35.3. He was sentenced to six months in the parish jail, suspended, and placed on seven months of supervised probation, with the condition that he enter and complete a domestic violence counseling program.
