The defendant, Billy Ray Anderson, was originally charged with two counts of distribution of cocaine. Following a jury trial, he was convicted of one count of distribution of cocaine and one count of attempted distribution of cocaine. On the former conviction, he was sentenced to 25 years at hard labor, the first two years to be served without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. On the latter conviction, he was sentenced to 12 ½...
