The defendant, Travis Gabriel, pled guilty pursuant to a plea agreement to one count of forgery in violation of La. R.S. 14:72 for displaying a counterfeit 60-day license plate. The state agreed to nolle prosse a second count of forgery for possession of a counterfeit temporary insurance card, to not file an habitual offender bill of information, and a five-year sentencing cap in exchange for the guilty plea.
