Defendant/appellant, Gregory Nicholas ("Nicholas"), appeals his convictions and sentences on two counts of criminal activity.

The State filed a bill of information charging Nicholas with obstruction of justice in violation of La. R.S. 14:130.1 (Count I) and second degree battery (Count II). Nicholas entered a plea of not guilty to both charges and waived his right to a jury trial. On April 30, 2008, a bench trial commenced....
