FACTS

On the evening of December 7, 2005, Carencro police officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault at the business owned by the victim, Ronald Broussard. The victim reported that the defendant, Joseph Boutte, Jr., came to his place of business and, following an argument, the defendant pulled a gun and fired a shot into the dirt at the victim's feet.
