This criminal appeal arises from the First Judicial District Court, Parish of Caddo, State of Louisiana. The defendant, Broderick Jerome Brooks, Jr., was convicted by a jury of second degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. He was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence, which conviction and sentence Brooks appeals.
