Defendant, Fred D. Kidd, Sr., was charged with the attempted second degree murder of his girlfriend, Elizabeth Rayetta Robinson, violations of La. R.S. 14:27 and La. R.S. 14:30.1(1). Defendant shot Ms. Robinson at close range in the abdomen with a .357 caliber Magnum revolver just after 1:00 a.m. on May 12, 2006. Trial began on July 7, 2008.
