STEWART, J.

The defendant, James Edward Burns, was convicted of violating La. R.S. 14:30.1, second degree murder. He was sentenced to life at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. The defendant now appeals, raising three assignments of error. For the reasons discussed below, the defendant's conviction and sentence are affirmed.
