This criminal appeal arises from the Fourth Judicial District Court, Parish of Ouachita, State of Louisiana, where a jury found the defendant, Christopher McCoy, guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a violation of La. R.S. 14:95.1, and aggravated assault with a firearm, a violation of La. R.S. 14:37.4. McCoy was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole and 5 years' imprisonment at hard labor, respectively...
