The defendant, Juave Collins, was charged by grand jury indictment with second degree murder, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. The defendant pled not guilty, but was found guilty as charged after a jury trial. The defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
