Defendant, Crayton Jones, Jr., was charged by bill of indictment with second degree murder, in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1, on August 24, 2005 for the shooting death of Alice Staton. He pled guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter, in violation of La. R.S. 14:31 on July 10, 2006. He was sentenced to twenty years at hard labor on December 14, 2006.
