We granted certiorari in this case to determine whether an uninsured/underinsured motorist carrier's unconditional payment of monies to its insured for damages sustained in an automobile accident with an underinsured motorist pursuant to LSA-R.S. 22:6582 and McDill v. Utica Mutual Insurance Company, 475 So.2d 1085
