On September 4, 2002, Tammy Schneidau ("Schneidau") was a passenger on a motorcycle that was rear-ended by a motorcycle driven by Michael Vanderwall ("Vanderwall").1 On that date, Vanderwall had in effect an insurance policy issued by Markel American Insurance Company ("Markel").
