This is defendant's appeal from his convictions for second degree murder after his second trial. In 1998, defendant, Lawrence Jacobs, Jr., was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to death.1 On direct appeal, the Louisiana Supreme Court reversed defendant's conviction and sentence and remanded the matter for a new trial.2
