On August 28, 2006, Defendant, Coys Thomas, Jr., was charged by bill of information with possession of cocaine, a violation of La.R.S. 40:967(C). Defendant was found guilty at a jury trial on March 25, 2008. On June 30, 2008, Defendant was sentenced to five years at hard labor.
