The defendant, Earton Lynn Smith, was charged by bill of information with aggravated burglary of an inhabited dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, violations of LSA-R.S. 14:60 and LSA-R.S. 14:95.1. Following a jury trial, the defendant was convicted as charged. He was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison at hard labor for the aggravated burglary conviction and five years at hard labor for the possession of a firearm conviction;...
