The defendant, Calvin Mitchell, was convicted of second degree murder and attempted manslaughter, violations of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1, LSA-R.S. 14:31 and LSA-R.S. 14:27. The trial court granted the defendant's motion for a post-verdict judgment of acquittal and reduced the second degree murder conviction to manslaughter.
