On July 6, 2006, the Jefferson Parish District Attorney filed a bill of information charging defendant, Jerry Babineaux, Jr., with manslaughter, a violation of La. R.S. 14:31. The next day, defendant pled not guilty at his arraignment. After a hearing, the trial judge denied defendant's pre-trial motions, including his motion to suppress statements.
