Linvil Curtis Turpin appeals as a matter of right from a Judgment of the Casey Circuit Court convicting him of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in violation of Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 527.040. Turpin was also found to be a first-degree persistent felony offender and was sentenced accordingly to a maximum term of twenty years in prison.
