Defendant Jason Wade Schaeffer pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and a weapons violation in 1994, when he was 17. The district court judge sentenced Schaeffer to life in prison on each of the first two counts; 15 years to life on the third count; and 5 years on the fourth count, with all of the sentences to run consecutively.
